SDCC 2017 Trailer Review #2: The Flash Season 4

Bring me The Flash or else your city falls.

The Flash’s trailer for its fourth season was released at the 2017 San Diego Comic Con.

It shows the impact of Barry Allen/The Flash’s (Grant Gustin) absence on the lives of his family and friends in a completely different way.

The trailer begins with Iris West (Candice Patton) narrating her story to the viewers. She has decided to follow Barry’s advice to become strong and move on.

It’s particularly interesting because Iris has been used mostly as a plot device in the previous seasons. Her character has a lot of potential, and so this is a fresh start for the fans as well.

Returning to the series are Team Flash members Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon/Vibe (Carlos Valdes) and Wally West/Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale).

Joe and Cisco are not reacting well to Iris’s decision, and are surprised to see her constantly reminding them that Barry will never come back.

The trailer also shows us that the team is back in action. They are fighting meta humans in the city just like good old days.

Last season, Barry was forced to go into the speed force in order to save Central City.  So, it was only a matter of time before a villain, in this case a Samuroid, demanded that Barry be handed over to him or else Central City will fall.

The team decides to bring Barry back and offer him up to the villain. Towards the end, we see that Cisco and Caitlin have successfully created a device to force Barry out of the speed force.

It is not clear whether Samuroid is the big bad this season, but here’s hoping that the producers will not make the same mistakes as they did in season 3.

Season 4 of The Flash will premiere on October 10th at 8/7c on The CW.

SDCC 2017 Trailer Review #1: Westworld Season 2

This world doesn’t belong to them; it belongs to us.

HBO has released the first trailer for Westworld’s second season at the 2017 San Diego Comic Con.

The trailer is successful in putting an end to complaints and criticism regarding the show’s slow-moving storyline.

The trailer begins with the piano starting up just like it used to in the first season. Normally, the “hosts” would then come to life and the day would pass by until the piano stopped.

However, this time the music sheet is covered in blood.

All hell breaks loose once the trailer progresses. Season 1 followed the steady buildup to the robotic uprising that ultimately became a reality in the finale. And so, this time it is clear that the “hosts” are ready to fight back.

Returning to the series are fan favorite “hosts” Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), Dolores Abernathy/Wyatt (Evan Rachel Wood), Teddy Flood (James Marsden) and Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton).

One of the most entertaining elements of the trailer is the song “I’ve Gotta Be Me” playing in the background. Sammy Davis Jr. sings ‘I’ve gotta be free’ while Dolores and Teddy ride on horses, and shoot humans as if they were the “guests” in Westworld this time.

Having killed Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) in the season finale, Dolores’s face shows no sign of mercy for any “guest” coming in her way.

Chaos and violence is all that is left in the amusement park. Dead bodies are seen lying around; a man is tied upside down from a tree while trying to reach a gun. An unsettling promise that next season will disappoint anyone who is rooting for Team Humans.

Some of the park’s team including Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman) and Ashley Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth) also appear in the trailer.

The final shot shows the Man in the Black (Ed Harris) smiling smugly with blood splattered across his face.

Considering that the second season has only been under production since last week, all of the scenes are executed brilliantly.

Welcome To My Blog – A Warning In Disguise

It took me 23 years to create my own blog.

23 years.

You see, I do write blog posts. I write them for my clients. I have always wanted to create my own website, but I was waiting for the right time.

Spoiler alert: there is no right time.

I thought that since my work was already on the internet, I could wait a really long time before starting my own blog.

I was wrong, of course.

Let me give you a little background here: I have loved reading books ever since I was a child. I started writing when I was around 7 years old.

Sometime around 8th grade, I discovered that I was a poet as well.

I pride myself on my poetry skills. However, poetry is a truly magical place for me. I say that because poems literally dawn on me once in 2-5 years.

But that is a story for another day.

In 2007, I joined online writing communities like Wattpad and Figment. And since I was a teenager, I chose an extremely embarrassing pen-name: BoltFromTheBlue.

Yes, you read it right. I used to think the name made me look super cool.

Anyhow, I kept writing and deleting, and then writing again. I even became a finalist in a writing contest on Figment.

But all of it came to a stop when I started university.

University took four years of my precious life, turned me into someone who was constantly moody/lazy/annoyed, and finally gave me an Electrical Engineering degree.

I graduated in 2016 and four months later, I realized I couldn’t just sit and wait for a job in an engineering company. I had to do something before I got stuck in this practical life they speak of.

I have been unsuccessfully unemployed since then. But let’s not talk about this cruel subject.

Moving forward, I decided to start working as a professional writer. I began using websites like Upwork to find freelance work and soon enough, I was happily employed by many clients.

Which brings me back to why I started this blog.

Waiting for the right time made me realize that my clients usually have to browse through other client’s websites to look at my work. And even though, it works perfectly well, I still write under certain restrictions provide by said clients.

So, by starting this blog, I will not only enjoy writing posts, but it will also serve as a portfolio of my personal writing style. It will be a space where I will have no restrictions.

So, there you have my simple yet very, very long answer to the question.

Once again, welcome to my blog! My unhealthy habits include procrastinating, eating, sleeping, and binge-watching TV shows and movies.

Fair warning: All of this will be reflected in my future blog posts.

Happy Reading!
